Hello,
I'm
Chev
Bilingual Web Developer
Let's take a look back at my journey so far.
I remember being lifted. Not as a baby, but when I was celebrating my 5th birthday. I didn't really have any particular dreams, just kind of drifted through each day.
My school had a computer club where we'd learn a bunch of technical stuff, like how to use a keyboard or a mouse, or some programs like Word. This was also when I started getting into PCs. I opened dev tools and changed whatever client-side data I could.
Started messing with Java for Android apps, thinking 'yo this is cool,' but got overwhelmed and kinda gave up.
Got sucked into Discord and started building bots with JavaScript.
I started to enjoy making stuff that *actually* did something.
Started exploring language models like ChatGPT API, NovelAI, and even voice models like ElevenLabs. Started making my own memory management system with near-infinite token consumption.
Began self-studying Japanese.
Made my first Japanese friend.
Learned 40 new vocabulary words a day.
Started seriously thinking about what I should do with myself next.
Both coding and Japanese were finally starting to come together bit by bit.
Not programming, but I did appraisals, data entry, customer support... even some casual interpreting when needed. Everyone spoke Japanese.
Collaborated remotely with Japanese dev teams and worked closely with office colleagues. Engaged in Git collaboration, code reviews, real teamwork, and extensive Japanese communication.
New language, new culture, new life.
But hey, code works anywhere.
